In conversation recently, a chappy told me that back in the '80s (remember them? I thought not.) he was in a two person synth band (remember them? I thought so.) that got a one-off write-up in the local paper. Therein they were described as 'a poor man's Gary Numan.'
Weeeelllllllllllll.
This raises as interesting question: Did the poor actually like Gary Numan?
Sir,
ReplyDeleteI have, of late,
been watching The Mighty Boosh.
There is an episode entitled "Arctic"
in which Mr Numan
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Numan
is mentioned many times.
In another ("Electro") he soothes the savage "hairy carpet guy"
Dunno 'bout The Poor
but Vince is quite a fan.

Gad, sir, you have allayed my fears that men of science and propriety no longer cast their discerning eye across matters of synth and suture.
ReplyDeleteIn these troubled times there is but one way forward: I propose a graph; where the X axis measures po' and the Y love of Numan. Plotting the intersections will, undoubtedly, give valuable insight into both '80s-as-was and the way forward.
bless you.
Sir,
ReplyDeleteI have made Jessica

aware of this -
no doubt sthg shall ensue...
